This book has been created especially for those people who do not have the time or the facilities to cook conventionally in the kitchen. As much fun as it is to create a masterpiece and pop it in the oven, let's face it, who has the time to wait 30-40 minutes for a cake when today's technology let's us do the same thing in less that 10 minutes. Having been confined to a small kitchen myself in the past, I recognized the value of my microwave oven, but did not know much about them or how to cook yummy meals, it was easier to buy a packet from the supermarket and heat it myself. With the price of frozen meals going up I've been forced to look at creating my own. I thought very carefully about the recipes that I would like to cook and found that more often than not I was going back to the good old fashioned foods like Shepherd's Pie, Lasagna, Chocolate Cakes and the like. I found these types of recipes were better than a lot of modern foods because they are nutritional, value for money and contain less of the things the powers that be tell us not to eat. You will find in this book there are some recipes from both of my previous books "Mum's 200 Favourite Recipes" and "200 Easy Scrumptious Recipes", with some new recipes to add to your collection. This book contains My Favourite Foods, value for money recipes and easy to make items for those who are still learning today's technology. We all like the old fashioned bread and butter puddings, shepherd's pie, etc, but how do you cook them in the microwave and still have it taste and feel the same? What containers are safe to use in the microwave? Should I let my husband anywhere near it again after the exploding honey incident? All of these questions and many more are answered in this book. I had all intentions of writing this book earlier in the year, but
as it always does, one thing led to another and the book stayed unfinished.
Three unique events have given me inspiration to complete this book.
Firstly, a very special thank you to a very special lady, Jan, who wanted
to get a decent microwave cook book with some handy tips for her Great-Aunt
who now relies solely on microwave cooking for Christmas. Secondly my
disabled sister after 20 years has just started cooking basic foods
and is learning about microwaves. Last but not least, my lovely husband
treated me to dinner last week because my kitchen had just been painted,
there was no food preparation going to happen there. I bumped into our
lovely local constabulary, who was there to have dinner as well, he
said to me "there are just so many tins you can open". I was
inspired. |
